Claudia Hammer

After working in the fashion and advertising business for 20 years, I decided to  devote all my time to my first love, art.  My mediums are graphite, charcoal, pastel and oil.

I received my training taking selected classes from the Louisville School of Art, Louisville, KY; Parsons School of Design, Paris, France;  American Academy of Art and The Chicago Art Institute, Chicago, IL;  Evanston Art Center, Evanston, IL; Florence Academy of Art, Florence, Italy; Tony Ryder 2 wk workshop, Santa Fe NM;  Nelson Shanks 2 wk workshop, West Palm Beach FL

Painting and drawing, to me, is about observation.  The more I understand what I see, the closer I come to capturing it.  I also believe in the importance of good draughtsmanship through discipline, concentration and observation.
